Mike BreenDecorated former Army Captain and veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan to keynote at Local Energy Solutions Conference

The NH Local Energy Working Group is proud to announce Mike Breen, Vice President of the Truman National Security Project will be the lunch key note speaker at the 4th Annual Local Energy Solutions Conference on March 31st at Merrimack Valley High School in Penacook, NH.

An expert and articulate voice on America’s security challenges; Mike Breen has become a prominent spokesman on energy for the national security community. Breen has appeared in numerous national and regional media outlets on a wide range of issues, particularly energy security, refugees, counterinsurgency, and counterterrorism.

The national security challenges we face abroad have had direct and serious impacts on energy prices and supply in the past, and will in the future. Changing the ways we use energy as well as our energy behaviors can help address those impacts

Don’t miss hearing this insightful, experienced veteran’s perspective on how addressing energy issues builds stronger communities and nations.

On March 31st Breen will discuss how:

  • Oil dependence and climate change pose serious threats to US national security and the very sustainability of local communities.
  • Taking steps to reduce our dependence on oil, we not only defund America’s enemies, but we keep money here at home and defend the US economy from the high, volatile price of oil.
  • Climate change destabilizes weak states, turning them into breeding grounds and safe havens for terrorist organizations like al Qaeda and the Taliban.
  • Investing in clean energy doesn’t just make us more secure; it also creates jobs and makes us more competitive internationally.
  • Action at a local level, by energy committees, municipalities, schools and businesses is related to these larger issues of national security.
