Calculation of Emissions from Raw Data

Once you've collected your data, the Campus Carbon Calculator™ makes emissions calculations relatively easy. Once the data is entered into the appropriate cells of the spreadsheet, and a few other parameters are specified (such as the regional electricity pool from which the institution purchases), the calculations are made. (All formulas, conversion factors, emission factors, etc. are already built-in. The formulas and factors can be altered - they can all be viewed and examined by anyone who is reasonably proficient with MS Excel - but they should ordinarily not be.)

The beauty of this tool is that one does not have to get into the fairly complex math and science involved in estimating greenhouse gas emissions from the various activities of a college/university that cause them - simply enter the data required in the proper units on the two ‘Inputs' worksheets, and the Calculator will do the rest!
